Use of any images on this site comes with conditions. It may not be exhaustive, so if in doubt, please contact heejennwei@yahoo.com

For all online use of the images whether paid or not paid, any form of manipulation to the image is strictly prohibited. This includes:

• Removal/replacement/modification of original watermarks
• Cropping of image
• Re-sizing of image to a larger format - ASK for the exact size
• Re-saving image in highly compressed format

A large part of the policies here were referenced from a compilation by Alex Wild and Nicky Bay based on their experience in image license requests over the years. 

Commercial Use

License for commercial use of images on this site and Flickr album will be subject to standard rates. Examples of commercial use include: company web pages, news articles, product labels, books, merchandise, magazines, mobile apps, and any educational product. Please contact me at heejennwei@yahoo.com with details of the intended use for a quote. To expedite the process, remember to include the following details.

• Where image is used

  Online, print, mobile app, tablet app, ebook or TV.

• What image is used for

  Advertisement, marketing, editorial, film, exhibition, internal use, product packaging, etc.

• Circulation count/viewership

  These are the same numbers you would show to your advertisers.

• Frequency of publication

  Daily, weekly, monthly, annually

• Usage format

  Print: Page dimensions, cover page, dual page spread, full page, half page, quarter page.
  Online: Image width and height specifications for your website.
  * All digital distribution of images will require original watermarks to be retained. Size of watermarks can be adjusted according to use.

• Target market

  List the countries in your target market.

• Mode of payment

  Paypal is preferred. Other modes of payment will result in higher quotes.

Non-Commercial Use

For non-commercial use of my images, it is usually free or discounted with the following terms.

1. Explicit written permission

   Please contact me at heejennwei@yahoo.com with details of usage. No reply means no permission yet.

2. Credits and link back

   All images should be accompanied by credits to Hee Jenn Wei and prominent linkback to http://heejennwei.blogspot.com/

3. Watermark retention

   Original watermarks must be retained and must not be modified. Contact me if you need them smaller or in a different format.

4. No visible loss of image quality

   Images used must not show visible loss of image quality compared to the original. This usually happens when images are resized upwards or re-saved in high JPEG compression.

I reserve the right to refuse permission and issue take-downs to image use that violates any of the above, or if the images are used in any context deemed inappropriate by me. 

Non-commercial use includes the following.

• Non-Profit Organizations

  Registered non-profit organizations may license my work at discounted rates, or free of charge, depending on the context of use. Contact me with details for a quote.

• Classroom Use

  Educational classroom use by students, teachers, and researchers is usually free of license fees. Any images reproduced on the internet are subject to the terms stated above.

• Conference Presentations

  Use of my images at academic conference presentations is usually free of license fees. Any images reproduced on the internet are subject to the terms stated above.

• Journal Articles/Technical Papers

  Use of my work in scientific literature is usually free of license fees. Some journals have copyright policies that are incompatible with my policies, please contact me with the journal details.

• Social Media - Commercial

  Use of my photographs in social media (facebook, blogs, twitter, etc.) by commercial entities is the same as "Commercial Use" (above) and requires a licensing agreement.

• Social Media - Personal

  Use of my images on personal sites/blogs or personal social media pages without paid advertisements are free of license fees. Failure to attribute an image properly will result in a take-down notice to the web host.

• Derivative Artworks

  Prior permission is required to copy all or parts of my photographs in derivative artworks.

Copyright Infringement Policy

Unauthorized non-commercial uses of my copyrighted images and text are subject to DMCA take-down requests without advance notice. Note that for Facebook pages, your page may be terminated if you receive too many copyright infringement reports against your page. 

Unauthorized commercial infringements of my copyrighted images will be met with invoices covering my regular commercial-use fees plus an infringement handling fee per image. There will also be additional infringement fees if the original image watermark had been removed or hidden. Infringement invoices are non-negotiable, and non-payment of infringement invoices will result in legal action to recover statutory damage. 

I reserve the rights to issue take downs for my images, even if prior permission was granted, if the context of the use or situation changes in an unacceptable manner.
