PSM 6: Candlelight Vigil

PSM (Parti Socialis Malaysia) or Socialist Party of Malaysia is a party that carries the mission to embrace Socialism Ideology- which social equality and distribution of wealth based on one's contribution to society, and an economic serve the interest of society as a whole.

One of those dark days on July 2nd, PSM 6 were detained without trial under Emergency Ordinance. It was alleged that PSM was a danger to the public as it was planning to revive communist party and topple the government by starting a revolution. The man in question Dr. Michael Jeyakumar, the Sungei Siput MP was also accused of plotting to overthrow the King. For many nights, PSM held their Candlelight Vigil to protest the absurd detention of PSM 6. Last night, the affair had augmented to 200 people gathered at Dataran Merdeka.

p/s: Do Check out Upcoming Candlelight Vigil here.

this post has been banned from PhotoMalaysia forum, the reason being was i'd used the forum for political discussion. Despite i'd explained that i was merely reporting an event sighting at Dataran Merdeka, also i'd agree to remove all wordings, stills, it was prohibited. Notwithstanding, numerous of BERSIH threads flooding the forum and a 2008's Anti-ISA thread. i still waiting for an answer from the moderator that'd banned the thread.

Would i received another warning or action for publishing this? For i was just reporting exactly what had happened?

Really nice shots.

As for the group that decided your pix are political, they obviously don't understand the raison d'etre of photographers and photographs.

If they were in Germany during Hitler's time, they'd be censoring compelling pictures of a Nazi concentration camp, deeming it 'political'.

You don't need them. We don't need them.

Ditto what Eggy said - we don't need the politically correct fools who can't see the forest for the trees.

thanks delCapo!

thanks for the support Eggy, Crankster!

Hope everyone don't get the initial intention wrong. i don't mean to bad mouth PhotoMalaysia. i respect the founder a lot, even when i'd lost all faith in that slip second.

i just want people to know that even an independent photography forum, restricted the freedom of information. Despite i'd offered to remove all my writing, but post pics only.

Despite the forum, has a specific thread for reportage/event. :(

Hi JeenWei,

Thanks for posting these great night shots. Everything is political nowadays, it is intertwined within our daily lives in some way or another. As a budding photographer, you must learn to photograph everything, and in different situations. You made these pictures because you were interested in the event, hence you made the effort to be there and done a great job. Leave the catwalk girls, cats and sunsets to the forums.
